The world we live in is one that is dominated by images and advertising messages everywhere we look. Though the ad world is increasingly shifting toward digital forms of advertising, but the tried and true methods are still some of the most cost-efficient and effective. According to the United States Small Business Administration, the single most effective and inexpensive form of advertising for small businesses is signs. If you’re looking for some ways to add signage to your business or don’t know where to start, here are a few things to consider.
1. The Name of Your Business
This one is obvious. You should always have a sign that simply reads the name of your business, if only to indicate where and what it is. The most popular type of business sign for this purpose is a channel letter sign. Channel letter signs are constructed of metal with a plastic overlay. The plastic is lit from behind with LEDs, which are very energy-efficient solid light bulbs.
2. Hours of Operation
If you don’t already, you really need to invest in a sign that tells customers what your business’s hours of operation are. This might be as simple as a sign in the window that reads what the hours are each day, but you might also consider getting a lit sign that reads “Open” or “Closed”. When people drive or walk by a business, one of the things they’re concerned most about it whether or not it’s open. It helps to make it very clear.
3. Deals and Promotions
Another common bit of information that businesses need to put on signs is deals or promotional information. When signs stay the same day after day, but if one changes periodically people may be more inclined to look at it. If you run specials each week, get a new product, or offer a new service, say so. Doing it with business signs is an easy way to get those messages out there.
