The International Standards Organization, also known as the ISO, is one of largest standard setting organizations in the world. Companies who complete ISO 14001 and receive an Iso 14001 certification often have a competitive advantage in comparison to companies who do not adopt such standards. The ISO 9000 certification is another ISO certification relevant to food. The Haccp plan (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) also provides and an HACPP certification to ensure that food handlers are using the safest and most effective practices. If you are interested in food safety training, you might also look into the servsafe certification, the CMMI certification, or the BRC certification.

There are also strict standards regarding hazardous materials, known as process safety management. Process safety management is a regulation set by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). A process is any activity or combination of activities including any use, storage, manufacturing, handling or movement of chemicals that are defined as highly hazardous chemicals by OSHA and the Environmental Protection Agency. If your organization, company, or business deals with such chemicals, it is essential that you follow process safety management policies and procedures.
