Sports vary for everyone but some common sports people participate in are football (American), basketball, soccer, and baseball. There are some more sports that people like to participate in, like gymnastics, volleyball, cross country, and even cheerleading. These sports can be extremely difficult on the body and thus might result in injuries anywhere on the body, like legs, arms, hands, and more. After getting injured, an athlete might have to participate in sports physical therapy in order to heal their body and make it better than it was before it got injured.

When it comes to sports physical therapy, a physical therapist can go into many different specialties. The ten specialties for physical therapists include geriatrics, neurology which deals with the brain, orthopedics, pediatrics, women’s health, cardiovascular and pulmonary, electrophysiology, sports, and wound management. Sports physical therapy specializes in athletes and athletic injuries, like an Achilles tendon injury, a torn ACL, and more.
