“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.” While we might hold this to be true, we are overlooking the fact that jewelry isn’t just for women. While jewelry tends to be marketed and sold to women in droves — womens necklaces, wedding rings, engagement rings, etc. — men can drastically increase their aesthetic and personal expression through the proper implementation of jewelry.

While clothing is a must for almost all social situations, jewelry isn’t. So why even wear it? Well, it has something to do with emotion. Jewelry can be unique — beautiful — it can be used to perfectly express someone’s interests and emotions. They make a person distinguished, separating them from the crowd, whether expressed by a pair of large earrings or a beautiful, eye-catching ring. With 38 million Americans buying fine jewelry each year, it’s hard not to see just how special a great piece of jewelry can personalize any outfit.

So how do men go about wearing jewelry if they’ve never done it in the past? Well, there are some ways to properly implement items of mens jewelry, and some ways not to. Let’s consider some tips to introducing jewelry into your standard wardrobe:

Wedding Rings

If you’re currently engaged, thinking of it, or are already married and interested in renewing your vows, then you know the importance of wedding rings. Wedding rings for men tend to be pretty simple, and for one reason: it’s not too flashy, so it blends in with almost every outfit. This is beneficial for those within the field of business, since it will allow for them to wear jewelry without flaunting too much, but what if you want to make it more special to you? Well, consider engraving the inside of your and your spouse’s wedding rings bands with a unique message. Or, if you’re looking for something to catch some attention, consider going for wedding rings that are specialized just for you, making a personal statement out of the wedding.

Mens Watches

With Rolex producing more than 2,000 watches per day, it’s noticeable that watches are one of the most popular forms of mens jewelry. Easily hidden beneath a shirt sleeve or worn proudly across the wrist, a watch can offer some amazing personal flair (25% of buyers stated their purchase was completed to make a fashion statement). If you think that a watch might be too much jewelry for you, consider going for a simple, leather-banded watch. Or, if that’s still too much, think about getting a mens bracelet — something that is personal without the watch face.

Mens Diamond Earrings

Earrings are an easy way to make a personal statement. Whether you’re going for studs, hoops, or dangling earrings, the right set of earrings can improve the life of an outfit, or simply catch the eyes of passerbys. There should be the reminder that earrings, and other jewelry, should be coordinated with your outfit though. Diamond studs won’t go with sweatpants and a sweatshirt, just like how a fancy Rolex won’t match your basketball shorts and tank top. It’s all about balancing your items, ensuring that you’re not overdoing it with the jewelry.
