When looking for solutions to creating and sustaining workplace safety, Environmental Heath and Safety (EHS) management software can assist with this process. Cloud-based inspection software can assist companies with managing compliance to the relevant regulations of their industry. This includes country-specific Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards and regulations.

This software provides access to planning, management, and reviewing tools that enable a company to keep track of audits and inspections. There are also mobile applications for workers out in the field.

Workplace safety is, of course, an obvious concern for employees, management, business owners, and the community within which the business if located. When polled, 75% of employees claimed workplace was an important issue for them.

It was also found, however, that many employees weren’t sufficiently aware of their workplace’s EHS protocols. Furthermore, there appears to be inadequate interpersonal communication, which is also an issue of concern.

For example, 45% of employees that observed unsafe or potentially unsafe workplace practices, didn’t feel comfortable mentioning this to their fellow workers or supervisors. This type of communication breakdown has the potential to cause an unsafe working environment.

While 43% of the employees polled claimed to want to be able to provide feedback to their EHS team, it is not clear whether they are actually doing so, especially given the above figures. Furthermore, 72% of the employees polled claimed that they weren’t particularly aware of the function of their workplace EHS team.

In addition, almost 50% of employees expressed concern as to whether or not their employers demonstrated genuine concerns about their company’s environmental impact. More specifically, this relates to water and energy conservation, recycling, and other industry-specific issues.

Sustainability is considered to be “very” or “extremely” important for over 50% of the executives polled. The management of environmental, social, and governance issues covers broad territory, according to the most recent McKinsey survey. This includes research and development for new products, building a reputation, and corporate strategizing.

When polled, however, just 35% of these executives believe that their companies have actually determined how sustainability impacts their businesses. Furthermore, these sustainability initiatives are not perceived as being in place on a daily basis by company CEOs or corporate-level executives, according to 27% of the employees polled.

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses, there was a combined total of three million private industry nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses reported in 2014. The rate of these injuries and illnesses was 3.2 cases for every 100 employees that work on a full-time basis.

In 2014, there were 4,386 private industry workplace fatalities. This figure includes 899 fatalities within the construction business.

When seeking risk management solutions, it’s essential to remain proactive and consider available options to address environmental health and safety management issues. Using inspection software for cloud-based enterprise compliance solutions can make a significant difference.

In addition to software solutions to address day-to-day operations, there are software solutions to address existing and future training needs:

    Occupational health software
Employee training software
    EHS compliance software
    EHS mobile software
    EHS reporting software
    Environmental auditing software
    Lockout tagout software

Inspection software can streamline functional risk management. Since it was specifically designed to assist companies and organizations with meeting EHS standards and goals, it is a valuable resource.
